What's Available in Nazaré
Nazaré is famous worldwide for the colossal waves at Praia do Norte, where an underwater canyon funnels Atlantic swells to heights exceeding 30 metres — the stage for multiple world record big-wave rides by Garrett McNamara, Rodrigo Koxa, and Sebastian Steudtner. The main Praia da Nazaré, separated by the Sítio headland, is a wide, gently sloping beach ideal for beginners and families. Beyond the spectacle of big-wave season (October–March), Nazaré is a colourful traditional fishing town where women still wear the seven-skirt costume and fishermen dry their catch on the beach.
